Welcome to my ‘PHOTOGRAPHY’ PAGE

“I have found my way, step by step, proceeding from touch points that have emerged,

some through conscious choice and some through dream state discovery.”

Leonard Nimoy (‘Shekhina’)

“When do I see a photograph, when a reflection?”

Philip K. Dick (‘A Scanner Darkly’)

By way of Introduction: my photographs (all of which are available for purchase – click on thumbnail for details) have been gathered from over a considerable period, thirty years in fact.

Topics vary – though common is a focus on the recording of ‘landscape’ (as opposed to ‘portrait), whether natural or man-made. Many have been taken as consequence of trekking (specifically six challenge treks undertaken between May 2016 and October 2018), either from the trek itself or the associated training. As many are a consequence of my interest in architecture and travel.

Regarding technical background, I initially worked with film (more often colour slide film than print) using an Olympus OM10, or my first camera, a Nikon (of make I recall, but not model. I do remember it was delightfully heavy; when the shutter clicked it felt as if light was being literally sucked off the subject matter……). More recently I have engaged with digital format, using an iPhone 6. I have yet to invest in digital SLR – to be honest, I’ve rather enjoyed the immediacy of the iPhone (though it took a while to get used to not using a viewfinder!). The post-production capabilities are simply too enticing to ignore……

For ease of navigation, photographs have been collated into a selection of themed galleries, as summarised below. Of the photographs chosen, they are simply my favourites, for one reason or another. Brief comments are aligned with each, that may go some way to explaining why. Comments can be read by clicking on thumbnails in each gallery.

Re-iterating, that all photographs are available to purchase. Either click on the thumbnail which will take you to a site entitled Photo4Me, where you can place an order for the photograph, mounted or not, or you can contact me directly.

Thank you for reading.
