PHOTO GALLERY 4: GLASGOW

This gallery presents photographs of my home city: Glasgow. They have been taken from initial youthful forays into film photography to current endeavours, using digital technology.
The tendency is to present a darkened view of Glasgow. I’m not sure if this is because I prefer to imagine the city so, to provoke favoured memories (when I was a child the city was literally black; my memory resists from applying any colour whatsoever); or because of implicit influence. I knew (albeit only slightly) and admired tremendously Oscar Marzaroli, whose photographs of Glasgow (and Scotland) are deeply and profoundly embedded in my mind. He also photographed Glasgow predominately in black and white, portraying a place which truly was dark, dynamically so with no need for manipulation.
Alternatively, it may be that I simply prefer my images darkened, as they might befit my mood……no – truly, this is homage.

All photographs are available for purchase, either online, or by contacting me directly.
