Plate G7.no7: Sneaky Route – St Peter’s Seminary – Cardross (Scotland)
Obviously, this view would never have been like this, originally. Though I have visited this building, many, many times, I never saw it occupied. It has always been a ruin to me – and I have over the years witnessed its steady deterioration, to become ever more deranged.
Moments like this are the meagre gratifications – but welcome, nonetheless, especially because in the building’s ruination, much has been revealed which otherwise would not be so – but these revelations, though fascinating, are not additive, and only compound the sense of waste.
This picture captures something new – I know I’m reaching here, but I’ve found in life, that often in the face of catastrophic dereliction, it’s the revelling in the tiniest moments of worth that become so, so important – for hope to survive.
