Plate G5.no14: Burnt Aspen Trees – The Rockies (Canada)

Trekking has been an education – one always discovers things, previously unknown, and on every trek I’ve done I’ve come away with some fact or observation that impresses more than any other.
Whilst trekking in the Rockies*, I learnt that Aspen trees are all linked, their roots are intertwined, hence, they grow together, and they shed all their leaves at the same time.
I don’t know if this helps take the sting out of this picture or not: of Aspens, ravaged by fire. I really can’t say – either way, it was troubling to see, no matter how natural such an occurrence is deemed.
Nature – its full of such wonder, and such brutality. If I ever meet the author, I have a number of questions…
